Oh...the games pastor's children play....

Hi all!  Just a quick post about a few recent funnies at our house.
Summer is here.  YAYAYAYAY.
So we're playing outside all the time these days.  THIS is why you live in Minnesota.  The summers.  Ahhhh.
We had the sidewalk chalk out a few days ago.  Apparently Greta lost interest in the sidewalk and started decorating her brother's noggin.  We heard her say, "Wes, let's play Ash Wednesday."  Yes, if you look closely on our boy's forehead you'll seen the sign of the cross made in chalk.  He was fine with it, so we just laughed and enjoyed the moment.  Oh pastor's kids...

There had to be a bath after this interment of chalk, so into the tub.  Check out the bubble beard:
Look at my girly...she's getting so big.  And so pretty.  And so smart.  It IS happening so fast.
And yet there are still moments like this...napping in the bike trailer.
And just in case the ashes story tickled your fancy...this morning Greta woke up and invited Tyler to play a game with her that she made up: Pentecost.  The convo went something like this: G: "Daddy, come here and play Penecost with me." T: (laughing) "well how do we play Pentecost?"  G: "you come pick a toy and I tell you how much it cost.  Get it?  Pente-cost?"  Yeah...definitely a PK.

May Days...everything since May 8th :)

Ah May....the gateway to summer.  The seasons of goodbyes and new summer schedules.
Early in May: Greta had her last day of preschool.  Last day of preschool.  Who knew I'd feel emotional about it.

There was a float party to celebrate...pretty cool huh?

Greta's Wonderful teacher Ms R. (looking so glamorous I might add!):

And G's other teacher Ms C...looking happy about a successful year of preschool.
  Pretty awesome stuff.
And then there was Mother's Day.  Our house...beautiful day.  And the steaks...nice job Pastor :)

Kiddies with Gma
And I'm growing stuff.  The backyard is really shaping up and looking more intentional.  And beautiful.  Looky looky:

Not bad, right?
And then there are these people.  They are funny.  I think I will keep them.  There funny pictures:
Don't know what to say about this exactly.  Wish he were only interested in his nipples?
Summer is wearing them out.  They are car-sleeping regularly.  I'm sure this is a sign that I am failing them as a mother.  It is pretty cute though.
Body-slamming.  Ask the preacher...as I have nothing to do with this strange promotion of false violence which almost always leads to real violence at our house.
What big eyes you have Gboo... (sorry yours are totally absent Wes.  Ask the preacher about those too)
The good morning committee.  How could the day be bad with a greeting like this?
Dubby got a new big boy room.  Sniff sniff.  He went from yellow & dinosaurs to grey & a modern transportation theme.  It is cool.  But it is happening too fast.  (still in transition as you can see)
Cute nakey baby shot.  Good work towel.

And these little people of mine have said some very funny things.

After expressing my frustration at just having sat down to dinner only to have Greta request more water she said, "That's one of the hard things of life, mommy. When your children are thirsty, you must get them water."

Wes: Daddy, give me handsome hair (i.e., put your hair goop in my hair too).

Greta: "Mom, Santa does not have flying reindeer. He does not fly through the sky with reindeer." Me: "Oh? Well what do you think happens?" Greta: "Well I've seen reindeer with my own eyes and they don't fly. That is ridiculous. He must travel on the ground by horse or maybe he has a special santa jet with a window he can roll down like we do at the drive-through."

Wes: let's snuggle, say prayer and sing the mommy song (we still aren't sure what this is!)

 And tomorrow it is June.

Catch up part 4: Daddy's birthday!

Tuesday was the Preacher's birthday, but we decided to celebrate it on Monday because:
a) it is our family day
b) it was gor-geous outside
c) it was actually an unscheduled day.
So we hopped on our bikes (kids in the pull behind cart) and while we intended to check out one lake, a couple of fortuitous turns led us downtown and to the sculpture garden.  It was tons of fun.  The kids loved running around and checking out all of the different sculptures.  The Preacher had NEVER BEEN to see the spoon up close.  How.is.that.possible.  No matter, we remedied it.  We celebrated with birthday brats and rhubarb cake and delicious ice cream.  What a great day.

G&W...and of course Kit in her helmet too.
Obligatory picture pretending to eat the cherry.  Not quite executed as directed.
 How fun is that face?
 Twins.  Seriously.
 Sillies...seriously.
The Birthday Boy with his babies.  Good stuff
And there is the spoon sans silly faces.  Kooky and fun.
Happy Birthday Preacher.  I think you are kooky and fun too.  Life with you is like a big bowl of ice cream with a cherry on top.  For Greta.

Catch up Part 3: The Preacher & his wife escape to paradise

SO yeah...
the thing is, we've been married 10 years.  Almost.  And so the preacher decided to plan a trip for us to revisit our honeymoon destination.  Romantico, no?
So at the end of April we hopped a plane (or 3), a ferry, and a golf cart to stay at Cerulean on Elbow Cay, Bahamas.  It is truly heaven on earth.  Let me prove it to you:
The cute church where we renewed our vows (let me hear your collective, AWWWWW)
Tahiti beach.  It is crazy great.  So much fun wildlife as you wade through its shallow waters.
 Cute toes, no?  Thanks Grandma....
 Starfish!

We look like a postcard here...but really, THAT picturesque.
How is it possible that we were the only people on the beach on this day?
Conch...the little critter is inside or we would have lugged the shell home it was so awesome.
At dinner with the lighthouse in the background of the harbor.
Maybe some rum drinks were involved.

There we are...can you tell we actually felt RELAXED after a week?
Thanks love for convincing me to go...it was so worth it.

Catch up Part 2: April crazy babies

GRETA loves GodsKids Choir!
Also in April, Gboo performed in the GodsKids choir musical- Adam's Apple.  Our music maven worked it out so that the preschoolers and Kindergarteners could sing in the opening and closing numbers along with a few other songs that they sang throughout the year.  Doesn't she look like she's having an awesome time?  They did great and had so much fun.

Wessy couldn't help himself and got in on the dancing at the end.  Note the matching sweater too.  Matchins.  Love it.
And the next day Wes decided to don a bowl-hat.  He was really proud of himself.
Big sister thought he was funny too.
It is nail day!  So for G's birthday, mama took Greta for a pedicure.  She adores it.  "Mommy, could we do this every week?"  Well, no dear.  But Grandma took us out for a girlie morning a few weeks ago and you can see that she was all smiles!
In other news: Wes went to his 2nd year appointment.  He is doing great- our Doc was amazed at his chattiness, how tall he was, how fearless he is.

That's a wrap for April....almost.
