So August. It was busy. Like the busiest ever. We had lots of work stuff to do. LOTS. And then we were able to enjoy the last gasp of summer down at the beach with my family. Sea Island is a beautiful place.
We had a whole week of amazing weather, despite the threat of Irene, and the togetherness couldn't be beat.
Greta & Evelyn loved playing together. As you can see, they were pretty much inseparable).
Both were big fans of the beach. Evey loves the ocean and would go in happily with an adult escort. Greta, the cautious one, was much happier on the beach digging "tidal pools." Hands down, however, the pool in the backyard was everyone's favorite place to unwind.
Amelia rocked around like the big girls and a was a whiz on the Ipad.
She felt a little under the weather at the end of the trip, but amazed us with her fearlessness.
Wes was Wes...climbing on everything, calling every circle a "ball," plunging forward with zero concern for his physical well being, and happy the whole time.
What a guy.
We celebrated Gramps & Granny's 41st anniversary while at the beach, which was great fun.
The rest of us did not feel like the occasion was such a snoozer!
We did alot of shelling, beach biking, and oh my the swimming....
The preacher and I even snuck out to Savannah for an overnight date!
The week flew by so quickly and then we had one week to return, get back into the swing of things and BAM....it is fall.
It is weird here in MN, Sept 1st the weather changes. It is crazy predictable. Today's high: 72. Lovely, don't get me wrong, but I know how quickly the 70s become the 50s here. And then...well, you know the rest. September promises to be exciting for us. Greta starts her 2nd year at preschool with Ms. Rockhold. We get to have our home visit with her teacher on Thursday of this week and school begins next week! She is thrilled. Wes will be in day care in the mornings while Gboo is at school and I will work. That's the plan anyway. I'm steeling myself for my next birthday (next week- I get ever closer to the big 4-0, but NOT YET) and my sweet hubs got us tickets to hear Alison Krauss to celebrate. I continue to log in volunteer hours at Children's Hospital and love staying connected there. Greta's story has been featured in a number of places, which couldn't please us more. We'd love to share our happy story in support of the institution that had an important part in making these happy days possible. Ty is already busy with church stuff picking up, including his first capital campaign. Between an already demanding church schedule, the campaign and a trip to Haiti to solidify a mission relationship, he is pretty much going to be over his head until after Christmas.
So that's our news in a nutshell. I hope this fall is shaping up to be a happy, healthy one for your family too.
