First Snow of the Year

Yes, I'm already bemoaning the coming of snow here in MN. To be fair to me, it is NOV 7TH! It did brighten my day to put Greta in her snowsuit and let her play in the snow. I'm not sure she remembers it from last year...but I am sure that this year she is officially a snow-fan. It seems I am now outnumbered in our household! Greta did a good bit of singing (particularly while pushing the swing) of Tinkle Tinkle lil star and declared "the snow is cold" several times. Maybe I can find a way to like the snow by experiencing it through Gboo's eyes.....

The 'boo says BOO!

It's Halloween! Not that Greta has any idea what that means. As you'll see in our pictures it was a bit of a trick trying to get Greta to wear the hood of her Elmo costume for a quick photo. Without it, it looks like she's wearing a strange red furry vest just for the heck of it. We're going to take her to 2 or 3 neighbor's houses, but we're thinking this year she'll have just as much fun helping us hand out candy to other trick-or-treaters. Maybe next year she'll "get it." Who cares about this World Series? Greta does!

Oh man....Grandma and Papa Bruce told us a story after babysitting one night about Greta's love for baseball...but it wasn't until tonight that we got to see it live. As we flipped through the channels tonight, the World Series came up and Greta started chanting "baseball, baseball..." Hilarious. This baseball chant was followed by a whole series of other chants, which we got on camera for your viewing pleasure. We're not sure who she is rooting for, but she's definitely rooting.
PS gotta love the fuzzy frog PJs too, right? You should see the frog face on the rear...hysterical.

Gwamps and Gwanny!

Otherwise known as Gramps and Granny....came to visit this weekend! Overall we had a great time together, despite Gboo and Gboo's mommy being a bit sick. Good food, celebrating Gramps' birthday, fun in Stillwater, shopping and relaxing. Gboo toured Gramps around her new house for the first time so he could see her new digs too. It seems that Greta was really Gramps' girl this weekend...she wanted to know where he was at all times! Although, Granny was still a fan favorite as always and was much preferred over mommy and daddy over the last 3 days. And wouldn't you know it, after G&G left today and Gboo got up from her nap- she was like a new girl so she and daddy played in the backyard a bit. Enjoy a few pics from the weekend.

Fall Leaves and Other Fun

We've enjoyed a beautiful fall day in MN. We tried to take advantage of it as it might be the last for a while (I'm fully expecting it to drop into the 40s for my parents' visit next weekend!). We promised Greta that we could go fly a kite in the park first thing in the morning, and when she woke up from her nap at 3:30 her first request was "fly kite in park with daddy." I'm not sure what I'm more amazed at: her memory or her primitive sentences. Anyhoo, all was going well until Greta wanted to hold the kite string, which seemed to be an ok idea. Well, a lovely autumn breeze (more of a mini tornado) yanked that kite right out of her hand and perched the string handle in a tree. Ah well. When we left the park the kite was still flying! We'll check on it next time we walk down to the park, ie tomorrow weather permitting.

We came home and romped in the leaf pile mommy & daddy created as Greta napped earlier this afternoon. Good times...there were body slams, sudden bouts of narcolepsy (play sleeping is big in our house), and our own attempt to recreate burying daddy at the beach (since MN is short a nice beach we improvised with leaves). All in all the leaves were a hit, though the rakers were a little discouraged to see a whole other yard full of leaves fell in the 3 hours between when we finished raking and we went a'romping. Sigh.

Gboo & the Quacking Quackaroos

Well, we had a fun family day at the park yesterday. We found a good spot and let Gboo feed the ducks. I think it is safe to say that we had no idea how much Greta would enjoy it. I would describe it as toddler bliss. It's amazing that the ducks stuck around because after Greta would throw a chunk of bread in the water she would raise a blood curling scream! We posted a video so you could get a feel for how much fun she had with the ducks. Thanks to Aunt Jayne who was also with us and captured this video!
