Evey update

For our friends and family....we haven't posted a picture of our darling niece/cousin lately (because we haven't seen her...boo hoo). Here's a great picture of her with gramps and granny from a visit this last weekend in Lexington. Isn't she a cutie? Evelyn is our favorite 15 month old!

Some recent video clips

We've been lax on uploading some recent video footage, so we're trying to remedy that with this post. Two of the videos are from our time in Peoria....we managed to eek out a little happy family time while celebrating my Grandma's life that week. The last video is from last night...Greta loves to dance and made a "dance request" of daddy last night. So he turned on some music and GBoo said "'Mon Daddy, dance" (C'mon has been shortened to "Mon"). You can hear her encouraging Jerzey to 'Mon in the video. Enjoy!

September Birthday weekend

Well...it seems that everyone great was born in September. Well, at least Great Grandma Christiansen and Greta's mommy were both born in the middle of this fine month. Yesterday we celebrated Great Grandma Dagny's 80th birthday with her. There was a yummy lunch in her honor and an appearance by a local opera singer charged with serenading her into her 80th year. Today is Greta's mommy's birthday and it's already been a full day. We began the morning at a local apple orchard. Greta enjoyed picking up the apples off the ground and throwing them at her daddy (hmmmm). She also took a spin on some of the mini tractors at the orchard. Undoubtedly Greta's favorite thing at the orchard today were the goats. Yes, the goats were the highlight. You could feed the goats, which in Greta's mind was the best thing ever. There was a cute beebee goat there too, which was definitely part of the draw. Greta has quite a funny noise for goats (Mommy: Greta, what do goats say? Greta: "whooo whoo" -said breathlessly like she were blowing bubbles) and we don't know where it came from...but the goats did nothing to correct her today. They were much more interested in getting breakfast from our toddler. We then stopped by Stillwater (a really cool town!) and looked at the river and got lunch. Greta tried her first milkshake...I'll let you guess about whether or not she liked it.

PS the first picture is from this last Saturday...we all felt a little sick with a cold and Greta climbed up in bed with daddy....it reminded me of a picture I took of those 2 a few weeks after Greta was born. Look how big she's gotten! Agh!

Fall at Minnehaha Falls!

We spent this morning at a beautiful spot. We bundled up (it was more than "crisp" this am) and headed for Minnehaha Falls to show Greta her first waterfall. She loved it and we got a few fun shots. Enjoy!

Friends & Family week part 2: the Hunekes come to town

Yes, our darling godson and his parents (whom we happen to like too) came to visit over the weekend. Greta had a love/hate relationship with "Nakan" (Nathan in gretalese)...she loved playing with him as long as it didn't involve her toys. Ugh. We have alot to learn about sharing. We flew kites, played in the park, rode the train around the lake and hit the zoo with Nakan... Good times. Check out these cuties....

Friends & Family week: part 1 State Fair '08

We were fortunate enough to welcome Aunt Ann and Uncle Ken to town to join us for our 2nd annual trip to the MN State Fair. Even though the skies were somewhat ominous, we managed to have alot of fun at the fair. Greta loved the animals, particularly the "bebe caoww" (that's baby cow for those of you that don't speak gretalese). We saw other fun stuff too...like the butter busts of the dairy queens...but mostly we ate. Well, most of us ate. Greta slept while the big peeps ate. We guided my Aunt & Uncle through the fair favorites: cheesecurds, leftsa, walleye on a stick, fried snickers on a stick...my uncle even sprung for ostrich on a stick (not a whole ostrich of course). PS..you can see Greta's new cute handmade apron with matching tablecloth and napkins that Aunt Ann brought her...she began cooking immediately...mama is feeling very hopeful about this.......
